What is a Visit Widget?
It's a javascript based visitor tracking tool that gathers
information about activity on your site(s) and displays information
that is useful to both the site owner and the site visitors.
How do I get the widget?
1. Click on the
"Get This Widget" link located at the bottom of an active widget.
This will bring up the "Widget Settings" window. 2. Click on the
"Get Widget!" button to display the javascript code snippet. 3.
Right-click in the box containing the code, and choose the "Select
All" option to highlight the whole code snippet. 4. Right-click
again and choose the "Copy" option to add the code onto your
clipboard. 5. Paste the copied code into your web page
Where do I place the code?
The javascript snippet you copied can be placed anywhere within your
webpage. If you have a common template or include file, then you can
place the code there to minimize the number of pages you have to
install on.
How long do I have to wait before I can see my data?
Once the widget code has been installed on your web pages, you
should begin seeing data at the top of the next hour. In other
words, if you place the code in at 4:30pm, you won't see any data
until 5:00pm.
Can I change the look of the widget?
Yes. To change the look of your widget, simply click on the "Get
This Widget" link located at the bottom of your widget to bring up
the Widget Settings window. From here you can change the size, how
many lines of data to show, default date ranges and more. Click on
the "Update Preview" to see how your changes will affect the
appearance of the widget in the "Preview" window. Once satisfied,
click on the "Get Widget!" button and copy and paste the updated
widget code snippet.
What time zone are the widgets set for?
Currently,
all data is being displayed for Pacific Standard Time. This may
become adjustable in the future.
Why should I use the "Hidden" Widget Mode option?
Selecting "Hidden" allows you to track a page without displaying the
widget. This is very useful in case you only want to display the the
widget in one location, but want to be able to track your entire
site.
What time range does Today and 7 Days cover?
The "Today" view begins at 12:00AM PST and is current up to the last
hour. The "7 Day" view includes today's data and the data from 6
days prior.
What do the different arrows mean?
The arrows show if there's been an increase, decrease or no change
in the number of pageviews. In the "Today" view, the comparison is
for the current day against the previous day. In the "7 Day" view,
the comparison is for the current 7 days against the previous 7
days.
My widget isn't working, what do I do?
Double
check that your widget code was copied correctly by comparing the
code on your site against the code you see when you click on the
"Get This Widget" link. If you got the code from a widget
distribution site (i.e.- widgetbox.com, snipperoo, etc) then the
code might have been altered by the distribution site and may need
to be reinstalled. In this case, go to the widgets page of this
website and follow the instructions under "How do I get this
widget?" If you've done all this and are still having problems,
